Bridge closure: River Carron, Denny

The closure of the footbridge (Dale Bridge near Winchester Avenue, Denny) is required in the interests of public safety.

The river has scoured beneath the supporting pier and the bridge deck has also buckled.

Falkirk Council is aware that this bridge is well used by the community, however, the bridge could fail suddenly in flood conditions.

'New footbridge'

The Council has completed feasibility work and undertaken community consultation, identifying that the best value option is to remove the existing bridge and central pier and replace it with a new single span footbridge.

The Council is currently working with the community through the Denny and District Community Council, the Denny & Dunipace Heritage Society, the Carronvale Tenants and Residents Association and the Communities Along The Carron Association.

The objective is to jointly explore and secure all avenues of funding for the bridge replacement which is currently estimated at £250,000. Further updates on progress and timescales will be made on this page and through the community groups listed above.

Regrettably, in the meantime, the bridge needs to remain closed, on the grounds of public safety.
