Falkirk Council is responsible for ensuring that all health, safety and care related requirements within its workplaces and public offices are adhered to. The Council continually strives to improve Health & Safety performance.
Falkirk Council is promoting the joint HSE and European Agency for Safety and Health at Work campaign on Risk Assessment. Each year this partnership focuses on a specific subject to raise awareness within the workplace. The emphasis of the current campaign is Risk Assessment and for the first time the campaign is for a two year period; 2008 and 2009.
The campaign is aimed at a wide range of stakeholders including employers, employees and safety representatives and its intention is to promote the legislative requirement to carry out risk assessments. It also seeks to demystify the risk assessment process to show that carrying out risk assessments at work need not be complicated or bureaucratic and that it should not be viewed as a task only for safety experts.
In support of the campaign an audit will be undertaken across Council Services to assess operational management arrangements and implementation of risk assessment specifically focusing on key Fit 3 areas e.g. slips, trips, lone working, musculoskeletal and stress.
