Nearly 3,400 local people returned the Customer Satisfaction Survey enclosed with the 2004 Council Tax mailing. This is what they said.
Contacting Falkirk Council services
68.8% of respondents said they had contacted the Council in the previous 12 months, 80% by phone and 33% in person. Other contacts included sending a letter or e-mail or attending a Councillor’s surgery.
Helpfulness and courtesy of staff was rated highly by 75% of those who phoned and 65% of those who visited a Council office.
Finding out about the Council
70% of those who replied get information about the Council from Council publications such as Falkirk Council News or information leaflets.
69% get information from local newspapers and 10% get information from local radio.
Only 25% said they did not feel informed about Council services.
37% had logged on to the Council website www.falkirk.gov.uk|. The website was visited more than 500,000 times last year.
Opening hours
Nearly 35% wanted longer weekday opening, from 8am-8pm and just over 33% wanted Saturday morning opening. We are looking at this as part of a review of how we provide services to our customers.
Satisfaction rates
There were high levels of satisfaction with a number of environmental services, including refuse collection (87% very satisfied or satisfied), special uplifts (69% very satisfied or satisfied) and street lighting (71% very satisfied or satisfied).
Those who replied were less satisfied with litter collection (42% very satisfied or satisfied) and control of dog fouling (20% satisfied or very satisfied).
