If you are receive certain benefits, you may be entitled to Cold Weather Payments.

Payments will be made when your local temperature is either recorded as, or forecast to be, an average of zero degrees Celsius or below over seven consecutive days.

You will get a payment of £25 for each seven day period of very cold weather between 1 November 2014 and 31 March 2015. You should receive your payment within 14 working days. It is usually paid into the same bank or building society account as your benefit payments. You may be able to get Cold Weather Payments if you're getting:

  • Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

How to claim

If you are eligible to get a Cold Weather Payment, you should be paid it automatically. Cold Weather Payments do not affect other benefits you may be getting.
