Falkirk Council’s Executive has agreed today (14 August) to take forward new plans for a Council headquarters facility in Falkirk town centre.

Recognising that investment in the town centre was ‘critical’, a number of recommendations have been agreed:

  • Working as part of a group, the Council will develop an action plan for the delivery of an HQ and related investment by partners
  • To prepare a business case for the replacement HQ but having regard to the Council’s financial position
  • An initial specification drawn up for a location with a minimum of 300 workstations with associated civic and arts facilities
  • To look at ways of procuring a preferred site and means of delivering the project

It is expected that the new HQ would be located centrally and offer a facility for events, conferences and the arts as well as providing office accommodation to replace the current Municipal Buildings.

It is also expected that the project will lead to significant regeneration in the town centre as a result of the plans.

Further updates will be provided in the future and the report on the Council HQ project can be found on our website.
