Staff can now access a more responsive learning zone, designed to help them enhance their skills and increase their knowledge.

Offering a range of face-to-face training, the page can be accessed via the new employee section on the Council’s website. On the page, employees can quickly see what training is available and when as well as any cost that might be incurred.

If training on a certain area or subject is not available, a request can be made to Organisational Development who will look to source a suitable training module that can be uploaded or organised quickly.

Doug Maden, Senior Organisational Development Adviser, Organisational Development said: “If the Council is to be Fit for the Future it needs to be as responsive as it can be to the needs of its staff, helping them strengthen the skills they already have and providing them with an easy way to grow new areas of expertise.

“In the past, we published a quarterly bulletin listing all the learning opportunities available. That bulletin will no longer be produced, as it didn’t allow us to be as responsive to staff needs as we’d like.

“What the new learning zone offers is a greater degree of flexibility, which means we can respond quickly to requests for training. It also allows us to offer all our staff, regardless of whether they are accessing the zone via a Council device or their own, an opportunity to develop their skillset and increase their knowledge quickly and with ease.”
