Elected members agreed a raft of savings options today (Wednesday, February 27th) that helped ensure the Council’s £18m budget deficit for 2019/20 was bridged.

At a meeting of the Full Council, members accepted 84 options presented to them from Children’s, Corporate & Housing, and Development Services totalling £9.4m.

On the back of the decisions taken nearly 100FTE were safeguarded, however, there will still be a workforce reduction of just over 130FTE. This will be met through voluntary means including voluntary severance and non-filling of vacant posts.

The Council is now set to spend £340m across all communities in the Falkirk Council area over the next year.
