Local groups and organisations in Maddiston have been given the chance to apply for funding to improve their community. We need you to help decide which groups should receive funding.

Residents will be able to vote for the project that they think is most deserving of funding in a ‘first past the post’ ballot

Central Kempo Ju-Jitsu School

Central Kempo Ju-Jitsu School has been training children and adults in the art of self defence, discipline and interacting with others over the past 25 years. The group presently has 45 pupils and is rapidly expanding.

If successful, Central Kempo intends to use their funding to purchase new martial arts mats and combat equipment to help them continue to teach the kids of Maddiston the arts of self discipline, self defence through the oriental martial arts in a safe and friendly environment.

The Central Kempo Ju-Jitsu School project will meet a key community priority of supporting young people and older people to work together on a specific project.

Maddiston Primary School Outdoor Classroom Project

Maddiston Primary School Parent and Staff Association (MPPSA) realise that children are happier and learn better when they are outside. Teaching outdoors has many long-term benefits in children; increased health, motivation, memory and communication skills, decreased stress and overall better behaviour; and combining the natural environment with practical learning.

MPPSA is seeking funding to build an outdoor teaching structure with a stage area. This sheltered space; suitable for use in all weather, will provide many learning opportunities including performing music and drama to an audience. It can also be used as a quiet area during lunch and playtime.

The Maddiston Primary School Outdoor Classroom Project will meet the key community priorities of improving the lives and learning of children and young people and improving access to a local service.

Maddiston PS Bug Club

Maddiston Primary School is seeking funding to implement a new and exciting reading programme into their school. "Bug Club" is a fun, interactive reading programme that is proven to raise attainment in reading and spelling.

The books are combined with an innovative online reading world that relate to children's interests and will give them a lifelong love of books whilst developing them into confident young readers. Maddiston PS wants to give their children the best teaching and learning experiences and this resource will help deliver high quality and engaging lessons.

The Maddiston Primary School “Bug Club” Project will meet the key community priorities of improving the lives and learning of children and young people and improving access to a local service.

One Parent Families Scotland Community Hub

One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS) supports families, especially single parent families, to meet their transport needs, access low cost provisions, attend family outings and access physical and mental wellbeing resources.

OPFS Falkirk intends to use the funding to broaden their Hub services and provisions by providing additional training for volunteers and purchasing gardening equipment. They hope to provide families in need with one meal each week and expand their garden to grow more vegetables to give to families in need of fresh, healthy food. They also hope to ease the growing cost of the school day by operating a 'borrow and return’ clothing service.

The OPFS Community Hub Project will meet the key community priorities of improving the lives and learning of children and young people, assisting travel and transport, and improving access to a local service.

Maddiston Community Centre Easy PC Access for All

The Management Committee of Maddiston Community Centre is hoping to secure funding for their Easy PC project which will give residents of Maddiston and Rumford free access to IT equipment. Easy PC Access for All will offer specific times throughout the week when people can be supported to complete online job searches, type up CV's and browse employment opportunities.

The project will also offer classes in IT. The IT suite will also be made available to children and young people in relation to homework and study. The equipment can be used by many community groups and will help tackle issues of isolation, and ability to access local services on line.

The Easy PC Access for All project will meet the key community priorities of improving the lives and learning of children and young people and improving access to a local service.

Starshine Cheer and Dance - Central Scotland Ballet School

Starshine is an award winning cheer and dance team who train on Sundays in Maddiston Community Centre. They are the competitive element of Central Scotland Ballet School which runs a wide range of children's dance classes in the Community Centre, Golf Club and Primary School.

The team has won prizes at Scottish, UK, European and World level and are excelling in their field. Their dancers need better facilities to practise their gymnastic skills and hope to use the funding to purchase an inflatable springboard and/or tumble track for training in the Centre for use by the competitive and recreational dancers.

The Starshine Cheer and Dance project will meet a key community priority of improving the lives of children and young people.

Generation Ballet - Central Scotland Ballet School / Haining Nursing Home

Central Scotland Ballet School would like to take ballet into the Haining Nursing Home. They are hoping to secure funding to help kick start a project that would see Haining Nursing Home residents enjoy and participate in seated ballet. It could potentially develop into a long term partnership which could include an outing to watch the ballet, bringing professional dancers into the Home, or workshops with professional dance artists.

Dance has proven physical and mental health benefits which will enhance the well being of the older participants. It is also a great opportunity to have the young people from Maddiston meet, perform for, interact and socialise with Haining Nursing Home residents.

The Generation Ballet - Central Scotland Ballet School / Haining Nursing Home project will meet the key community priority of supporting young people and older people to work together on a specific project.

Maddiston Junior Youth Club

Maddiston Junior Youth Club provides children from Primary 1 to Primary 7 from the Maddiston village area a place where they feel safe and secure. Children are able to play, learn and make new friends in a lively and social environment.

Maddiston Junior Youth Club is hoping to use the funding to purchase additional sports equipment, arts and crafts materials and cooking utensils. They would also like to use the grant to organise outings and even a weekend activity break. They hope this will encourage kids to keep attending and also attract new members to the Youth Club. A sum of the funding would go to providing additional training for their volunteers.

The Maddiston Youth Club project will meet a key community priority of supporting young people and older people to work together on a specific project

Maddiston Lunch Club

The Maddiston Lunch Club project is seeking funding to purchase food and culinary equipment (chopping boards, saucepans, plates, cutlery etc.) to make healthy meals made from locally sourced produce bring the community. These tasty lunches would be served up to local people in a warm and friendly environment. This project will benefit people of all ages and encourage people from the Maddiston area to meet up, thus tackling loneliness.

The project will see volunteers and people from the local community interact and socialise while they enjoy a wholesome, healthy and affordable meal. The group has plans to grow the lunch club by linking up with local farms to provide fresh vegetables. They would also like to link up with the local High School to give students the chance to volunteer.

The Maddiston Lunch Club project will meet key community priorities of improving community spirit and local provision of services.

Maddiston Welfare Park facilities, equipment & kit improvement

Maddiston Mini's are hoping to receive funding to purchase sports equipment and a football kit. They would also use the funding to upgrade the changing rooms at Maddiston Welfare Park which caters for 4 youth teams and 1 adult team.

The refurbished sports facilities would attract more members of all ages to play and participate in the football club in a much more comfortable and modern facility. Above all, the project would help bring a feel good factor & togetherness to Maddiston Mini's for both the kids and adults from the Maddiston area. They will benefit in terms of their personal development, fitness, lifestyle & social interaction.

The Maddiston Mini's project will meet key community priorities of improving community spirit, improving the lives of children and young people and local provision of services.

Maddiston Primary School Trim Trail

Maddiston Primary School is hoping to secure funding to build a trim trail in an area of their playground that is currently under used. This would form part of their outdoor learning programme. The trim trail would consist of five obstacles set in a circuit and could be used during PE and break times, during out-of-school hours, and by after school club and scout groups.

As the Maddiston Primary School roll is continues grow this project would give children an opportunity to improve their health and fitness through an active and creative play aid. They will become more confident and resilient, and it will also increase their social and teamwork skills. Children will benefit in all four capacities of the curriculum for excellence.

The Maddiston Primary School Trim Trail project will meet key community priorities of improving the lives of children and young people and local provision of services.

Maddiston Child Minding Group

Maddiston Child Minding Grouping is seeking funding to provide props to improve physical development through play at their childminding group. These props would also encourage safe road use through role plays with adults & peers to promote road safety messages.

Maddiston Child Minding Group hope the use of props to promote safe physical play will educate children about the importance of playing safely at the Child minding Group and while they are playing at home.

The Maddiston Child Minding Grouping project will meet key community priorities of improving the lives of children and young people and local provision of services.
