Residents in Denny will be consulted over the final location for the town’s war memorial in early 2015 as part of the on-going regeneration project being led by Falkirk Council.

Following a temporary relocation in early autumn of the town centre war memorial to the cemetery garden next to Broompark Community Centre, a survey will take place to agree a permanent site.  Once the survey has been completed, the results will help the Council to reach a decision on the final location.

A recent survey conducted during drop-in sessions held in Denny for the town centre regeneration project backed the plans with 77% of those who attended saying that the proposals being put forward by Falkirk Council were a positive step forward for the town.

Councillor Dennis Goldie, spokesperson for Economic Development said:  “Work to deliver phase 1 of the new town centre is progressing well and we’re pleased that people have expressed support for our plans.

“We’re also looking for the views of the community over the final position of the war memorial for Denny.   It’s a sensitive and important decision for the town and we hope that people will give careful consideration to the options available.”

The drop in sessions picked up on a number of specific and gave people the opportunity to hear more details from the Council officers involved in delivering the project.
