Young people across the local area looking to get into work are invited to a free event later this month.

The event will be held at the Park Hotel on Tuesday 27 January. Young people attending it can meet key agencies who work in partnership with Falkirk Council’s Employment and Training Unit (ETU) to get those eligible onto employability programmes.

Anyone from the Falkirk Council area who is aged 16-24, currently unemployed and not participating in any other work programmes is eligible for the training programmes. As well as the ETU, representatives from Forth Valley College, Jobcentre Plus and Skills Development Scotland will be there to chat to attendees about the range of employability support currently on offer throughout the local area.

Councillor Dennis Goldie, spokesperson for Economic Development said: “We are very proud of the work we do with our partners to help young people kick start their careers.

“This event is a chance for young people to find out more about the range of opportunities available across the local area and how to apply.”

Training opportunities are currently available in a range of occupational areas, including:

  • Health and Social Care
  • Business Administration and Customer Services
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Retail
  • Recycling & Waste Management
  • Warehousing
  • Roads & Highway Maintenance
  • General Construction
  • Facilities Management
  • Lands-based activities (such as Grounds Maintenance, Landscaping and Horticulture)
