An extension to the current car park at Camelon Crematorium will get underway on Sunday 26 July.

An investment of £48k will result in an extra 24 parking spaces for people travelling to the crematorium for services.

The Crematorium will remain open during the upgrading works which are expected to take four weeks.

Councillor Dr Craig Martin, spokesperson for Environment said: “The car park extension is needed to cater for the increasing number of cars which bring people to services at the crematorium.

“The car park extension will be done in such a way that it does not adversely affect the landscape setting of the Crematorium. This work is the first important step towards refurbishing the Crematorium with work planned to start in the summer 2016.”

There will also be electrical upgrading work which will take place over the weekend of 22nd and 23rd August.

A large scale investment is planned across bereavement services over the next few years and includes the refurbishment of Camelon Crematorium.

The public will be kept fully informed in advance of each stage of the refurbishment works.
