Children benefiting from early years learning

Falkirk Council will be opening two new early years campuses in Bo’ness and Polmont which will provide early learning and childcare for young children.

Both campuses will provide early learning and childcare for children between the ages of six weeks and five years old. The campuses will support parents working or in further education by offering flexible attendance patterns. They will be open from 8:00am – 6:00pm all year round and all staff will be fully qualified.

These campuses will increase the number of places available providing flexible early learning and childcare across Falkirk. The new campuses will be based at St. Margaret’s Primary School, Polmont and Kinneil Primary School, Bo’ness and will offer a combined total of:

  • 20 places for babies
  • 38 places for 2 year olds
  • 32 places for 3-5 year olds.

As well as offering flexible childcare places, the new campuses have created 18 new jobs for early years staff.

Councillor Alan Nimmo, spokesperson for Education, said: “We strive to support working families with young children and these new campuses in the Lower Braes and Bo’ness Council Wards will provide additional places.”

“These childcare places provide parents with flexibility to access employment or training opportunities as well as supporting young children’s development and learning.”

For more information on the new campuses you can call 01324 506631 or visit www.falkirk.gov.uk/earlyyears.

Applications forms will be available from Monday 28 September at:

  • St. Margaret’s Primary School, Salmon Inn Road, Polmont, FK2 0XF
  • Kinneil Primary School, Dean Road, Bo’ness, EH51 0DJ
  • Children’s Services, Sealock House, 2 Inchyra Road, Grangemouth, FK3 9XB

Completed applications must be returned to Sealock House.

These two new campuses mean almost every Council ward offers flexible early learning through a campus or standalone nursery. Another campus is planned to open in Bonnybridge next year.
