A new approach to delivering services in the Falkirk Council area is aiming to help the most vulnerable residents as it launches next week (Monday 12 December).

The new ‘Hub’ located in Grangemouth’s York  Place, will offer a large range of support and advice services targeted at those who are in need of the most support.

The Hub will see specially trained advisers offer coordinated advice for the first time on areas such as:

  • Welfare benefits
  • Money advice
  • Debt advice
  • Arrears with bills
  • Scottish Welfare Fund grants
  • Housing benefit

In addition, regular services and advice will be available on subjects such as Council tax reductions and exemptions, housing options, free school meals and clothing grants.

Outreach services will also be delivered in local communities including Bo’ness where advisers who can provide the above services will be available in two new locations:

  • WESLO Housing Office, North Street (Mondays and Wednesdays 9am – 12:30pm)
  • Bo’ness Library, Scotlands Close (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10:30pm – 2pm)

Councillor Craig Martin, Leader of Falkirk Council said: “The new ‘Hub’ has been designed with customers in mind to ensure that they are directed as quickly and efficiently as possible to the services and advice that will help their circumstances the most.

“It will form the base for a range of outreach services in the nearby communities that can make a real difference to individuals and families who are struggling in difficult financial circumstances by showing them what real support is available and from what providers.

“Many of Falkirk Council’s services can already be accessed online on the Council's website without  the need to visit in person and we’d urge residents to take a look at our website first.”

Payments for Council tax and other services can be made online, by telephone or by direct debit.  Additionally payments can be made in person at Post Offices and locations with PayPoint facilities across the area.
