Free after 3 – a popular initiative to encourage more visitors to the town centre and support businesses – has been reintroduced.

From Monday 3rd April, ‘free after 3’ is available in any of the council operated pay & display car parks. Users of these car parks will not need to pay the normal car parking charge after 3pm.

The car parks included in the scheme are Kemper Avenue, Garrison Place (East) & (West), Meeks Road, Melville Street, Weir Street and Williamson Street.

Robert McMaster, Head of Roads & Design said: “Free after 3 is designed to encourage more support for retailers in Falkirk town centre at what can be a quieter time for shopping.

“We hope more people will take advantage of free parking in all Council operated pay and display car parks which has been in place since the beginning of April.”

Alex Fleming, Falkirk Delivers said: “I am delighted to see the return of the ‘Free after 3’ parking initiative.

“This, and other initiatives help support the business community in our town centre by encouraging people to visit at otherwise quieter times. It’s a strong marketing message for Falkirk which we’re happy to promote across the district and further afield. Whether you want to do your banking, attend a meeting, or buy that new spring outfit parking in Falkirk is free after 3.”

While users of council operated car parks will not be required to pay after 3pm, they are reminded to follow the normal car park rules which includes not parking in a disabled space unless you are a blue badge holder.
