St Francis Xavier's RC Primary School has received an outstanding report from Education Scotland following a recent inspection of the school.

Education Scotland visited the school in January 2019 and the full report published yesterday (5 March) provides the results of the four quality indicators which include two ‘excellent’ and two ‘very good’ ratings.

After every school inspection, Education Scotland reports the findings to parents in a formal letter.

In the letter to parents at St Francis Xavier's RC, Education Scotland found the following strengths in the school’s work:

  • The outstanding leadership of the head teacher resulting in a school where staff and children enjoy learning together
  • Confident, well behaved children who are enthusiastic about their learning and proud of their school
  • The strong approaches to developing staff skills and confidence through quality professional learning
  • Staff across the school provide a range of highly effective support to help children who have barriers to learning
  • Staff have effective arrangements in place to plan learning, teaching and assessment across all curricular areas.

Councillor Adanna McCue, spokesperson for Education said: “This is an extremely positive report for the school which recognises the hard work, commitment and dedication of the head teacher and her team.

“It is high praise indeed to receive such a strong inspection report and I’m confident the school will continue to provide a high quality learning environment for the whole school community.”

Tina O’Neill, Head teacher added: “We are very proud to have achieved such high praise from Education Scotland. Inspectors were very complimentary about our pupils and the pride they show in their school.

“Everyone connected to St Francis Xavier should reflect on how these children are thriving and are such a great credit to our community.”
