From 1 April 2019, changes will be made to the provision of Waste Services in the Falkirk area. These changes are being put in place following consultation with the public regarding the Council's 2019/20 budget, and agreement by Elected Members of the Council.

Bulky Uplift Service

  • The bulky uplift service will cost £30.00 per uplift (up to 5 items per uplift), and will now accept a greater range of materials (for example, kitchens and bathrooms). There is no restriction on the number of uplifts you can request.

Brown Bin Collections

  • You're still entitled to one free brown bin. Remember to check your online collection calendar at falkirk.gov.uk/binday.
  • Brown bins will be collected every 4 weeks until November 2019.  The service will operate on-demand between December 2019 and February 2020.
  • Remember that brown bins are used for recycling garden waste such as leaves, grass, plant material, twigs and small branches, but cannot be used for soil and stones.

Additional Brown Bins

  • You can request an additional brown bin through MyFalkirk.
  • The Additional Brown Bin charge will change to £25.00 per additional brown bin.
  • Households who pay for an additional bin will be issued with a sticker to put on the front. Collection crews will know which households have subscribed to the service and will only collect from those verified.
  • If a household presents an additional brown bin without an approved sticker, the bin will not be collected.

Van Permits at Recycling Centres

  • If you own or drive a commercial vehicle as your only mode of transport (for example a van or pickup), and use this to take your household waste to one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) you will require a waste permit from 1 April 2019.
  • To get a waste permit, you can apply at one of our recycling centres from 1 April 2019. There is no charge for these permits, providing your waste has not originated from a business. These permits are solely for your own household waste.
  • Household waste permits can be used at any Falkirk Council HWRC.
  • There is a restriction of 10 visits per financial year. The quota of 10 applies to the whole household, not each individual.
  • A waste permit is an A5 card that you can apply for on site. It has your information recorded on one side, with a unique reference number allocated to you. This will be stamped on site at one of our HWRCs without the need for further permits to be printed out. You will be allocated 10 site visits per financial year.
