A Credit Union is a community bank operating on a non-profit making basis, run by and for members of a community. Credit Unions offer a friendly, convenient and easy place to save with access to low cost loans.
The broad aims of a Credit Union are to:
- encourage members to save regularly
- provide low interest loans to members
- help members manage their own financial affairs
Credit unions offer members:
- free loan protection insurance
- interest rates of 1% per month
- repayment rates tailored to the individual
- no additional charges
We support the Credit Union movement in Falkirk by:
- assisting in the development of Credit Union branches throughout Falkirk
- providing Credit Unions collection points in community centres etc
- assisting with funding
- assisting with planning, development and training
