Who can apply for a postal vote?
Anyone who is registered to vote can apply for a postal vote.
How do I get a postal vote?
You can apply to vote by post in future elections by downloading a form from the Postal/Proxy voting page.
What is the deadline for applying for a postal vote or changing your postal vote arrangements?
The last date for completion of new proxy voting forms for a specific election is 6 working days prior to polling day. For alternations to either postal or proxy, or new postal voting applications take around 11 working days.
I haven’t received my postal ballot paper yet
You should receive your postal ballot 1-2 weeks before the elections. If it hasn’t arrived three days before the election, you can get a replacement postal ballot paper from Law & Administration Services up until 5.00pm on Polling Day.

Proxy voting
What is voting by proxy?
Voting by proxy is when you ask someone else to vote on your behalf.
Who can apply for a proxy vote?
Only those with a specific reason such as a disability or living overseas can apply to vote by proxy on a long-term basis.
To vote by proxy for just one election, you must have a reason (for example, you will on holiday during the election) and you must apply by 5.00pm six working days before the election date. However, if you become ill after this time, you can still apply to vote by proxy for medical reasons up until 5.00pm on Polling Day.

What is the deadline for applying for a proxy vote?
You must return your application by no later than 5.00pm six days before Polling Day. You can apply to vote by emergency proxy up until 5.00pm on election day, if you have suffered a medical emergency that means you cannot vote in person on Polling Day.
