Falkirk Council works in partnership with Stirling Council to deliver a range of specialist social work services to people with sensory impairment living in the Falkirk Council area, their carers, families and related service providers.
Falkirk Council delivers:
- Assessment
- Specialist rehabilitation and training services
- Sign language interpreting services
- Transcription into braille, CD or tape
- Information and translation
- Advice
- Equipment provision
- Support worker service
The service is delivered from the Forth Valley Sensory Centre in Camelon, Falkirk, which is a centrally located, purpose-built environment specifically designed to meet the needs of the local community.
The team at the Sensory Centre consists of:
- A team manager
- A senior social worker
- 3 rehabilitation workers
- 2 social workers in the eye clinic
- 2 social care officers
- A senior support worker
- An administration co-ordinator
- A clerical assistant
Document translation service
A sign language interpreter is available for the translation of documents or to assist in making complex phone calls. This service is available Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, by appointment only.
