Alcohol and Gambling Licences and Permits

Falkirk Council Licensing Board| is responsible for all matters relative to the granting of licences for the sale and supply of Alcohol and for Gambling.

Alcohol

The sale and supply of Alcohol is regulated by the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005| which replaced the Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976 on 01 September 2009.

The old system of separate forms of licence for public houses, hotels, off-licences has ended. The new Act features two new forms of licence, a Premises Licence and a Personal Licence. Each licensed premises must have a designated premises manager who must be the holder of a personal licence. Alcohol will only be sold under the authorisation of a personal licence holder. All personal licence holders will require to undergo appropriate approved training.

Gambling

The old system of control of betting and gaming throughout the United Kingdom has now been replaced by a new one in terms of the Gambling Act 2005|. The new Act features Operators Licences issued by the Gambling Commission| (which has replaced the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Board) and a single form of Premises Licence replacing licences such as bookmakers premises, casinos, entertainment centres etc. The new premises licences are administered by Falkirk Council Licensing Board|.
