Credit Union

A Credit Union is a community bank operating on a non-profit making basis, run by and for members of a community. Credit Unions offer a friendly, convenient and easy place to save with access to low cost loans.

The broad aims of a Credit Union are to:

  • encourage members to save regularly
  • provide low interest loans to members
  • help members manage their own financial affairs

Credit unions offer members:

  • free loan protection insurance
  • interest rates of 1% per month
  • repayment rates tailored to the individual
  • no additional charges

We support the Credit Union movement in Falkirk by:

  • assisting in the development of Credit Union branches throughout Falkirk
  • providing Credit Unions collection points in community centres etc
  • assisting with funding
  • assisting with planning, development and training
