Centre information

The Dawson Centre is a two storey building that first opened its doors in March 1998.

On the ground level to the right of the reception desk are the Housing/One Stop Shop and the finance office. Facilities include reporting housing repairs, speaking to your neighbourhood officer, payments of rent etc.

There is a multi-purpose hall that can hold various events from prize bingo to toddler groups, a community café, kitchen, ladies/gents toilets, two disabled toilets and a small interview room, which is ideal for one to one meetings.

Top level consists of a board style committee/training room, a computer suite with four computers for community use, and two small offices, one of which is let out to D.A.R.A. (Dawson Area Representative Association), and the other can be used as a small meeting room.

The centre has a lift installed, allowing access for those with disabilities/mobility problems. An outdoor eating area is being created next to the outside small play park at the rear of the centre through the café.

At the side of the centre is a seven-a-side astro pitch available for lets/bookings. Shower/changing room facilities are due to be put into place in late august/early September.

The centre is manned by a Centre Co ordinator who works 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday, and a part time caretaker who works 20 hours a week mostly at night. The centre can open from 9.00am until 10.00pm Sunday to Saturday if required.
