Childrens watercolour painting class
As this is a popular class you may have to go on a waiting list. The classes are free and all equipment is supplied.
Dance classes
Dancing is taught here in many forms, modern, jazz, ballet, tap and also acrobatics. Children are encouraged to use their imagination, learn basic social skills and given a chance to perform. Anyone from age 4 can attend and encouraged to take part in shows that are performed twice a year in the village.

Jolly Tots
The toddler group is for children from birth to preschool age.

Karate group
The karate group is open to children from 5 years up to adults. Currently we have six junior black belts aged between 11 and 15 years. The group holds demonstrations in local facilities and welcomes newcomers to join.

Lunch club
We have a lunch club for people aged 60 or over, and provide a warm 2 course meal for £1.70 in the community centre.
Lunches must be ordered before 11am and are delivered just after 12pm. Call 851548 for further details.
Over 50s bingo group
Open to everyone over 50 years of age, the bingo group have grocery prizes. This group meets for social purposes. There are spaces available for anyone interested in joining in the group, for a tea , chat and bingo.

Parents' group
A parents' group attend for different sessions on learning, support and advice and relaxation. A free creche is available for anyone attending the class.

Dance/Drama/Singing
These free singing classes are available to all children from 3 years to over 14. The classes are at differing times depending on the age of the child. Vocal coaching is given to help singing projection and overall confidence. Participants can also enter stage competitions.

Watercolour painting classes
The group use acrylics, pastels, coloured pencils and other mediums as the work on different subject matters. The group approach art with a good sense of humour and a chance to learn a new talent. The group have recently experienced glass painting, mosaic and pottery tuition.

Wednesday club
Over 60s club and carry out recreational and educational activities over a friendly cup of tea. Arts and crafts, flower arranging, card making, pottery and mild exercise classes. They also go out on trips in the minibus to local areas.
Youth clubs - 5-8 and 8-10 year olds
The youth club meets in the Community centre for social, recreational and sporting activities, for children aged 5 or attending school until leaving primary school. Small charge payable and tuck shop available.

Youth club - S1+
The Tuesday night youth club meets to enjoy music, sports, arts and crafts activities for all secondary age school children.

Other events
Surgeries (Councillor, MSP MP)
Cllr John McLuckie holds a surgery in the centre every Sunday from 10-11am. Cllr John Hughes holds surgeries in the centre on occasional Saturday (see press from details)
Michael Connerty MP and Cathy Peattie MSP hold surgeries in the centre once every three months. Please see local press or noticeboard in the centre for details.
Computing classes
We run beginners' computing classesd in our PC suite. We operate a waiting list for classes and names can be added to our list. To find out more contact Alison Batchelor at the centre.

Centre information
Slamannan Community Education Centre is run by a voluntary management committee, which is made up of members of the local community. Its aims are to provide recreational, learning and development opportunities for the community within a centre-based environment.

The voluntary management committee is elected at the annual general meeting. The current office bearers are:

Training
The centre organises training events that are open to the wider community. Contact the centre for details.
Services available
The Centre has a computer suite with eight PCs and a printer.
