Project groups and activity information
Computer Classes
The Community Project hosts a number of computer classes for all abilities ranging from beginners to ECDL (European Computer Driving License). These computer classes are run by Falkirk Councils, Community Education Service, Adult Learning Team.
Places on computer classes are subject to both demand and availability, for more information on courses contact the project direct or Adult Education at Park Street, Falkirk 01324 503670.
Family Learning Computer Group
Westquarter Community School Project recently hosted a pilot computer course, Family Learning Computer Group, during May and June 2007, which was run by Community Education's Adult Learning Team. The family learning group involves both parents and their children in a computer-based learning programme. The programme is designed to encourage parent's involvement in their child's school and homework.
If there is enough demand for another course, it will run at the beginning of the next school year (August 2008).
If you would be interested in this course please contact contact Falkirk Council's Family Learning Worker on 01324 503670.
Genealogy
This is a new group that has been set up and run by members of the management committee. The group gives participants the opportunity to take part in amateur genealogy by searching family history and compiling family trees. There is a small fee attached to this group, which allows participants to research using fee paying web sites.
For further information please contact Sylvia Bradley or Jean Harris at Westquarter Community School Project 01324 503987.
Youth Clubs
The junior and senior youth clubs are run with the support of the Youth Team at Falkirk Council's Community Education Services.
The junior youth club works with young people from P4–P7 age range, while the senior club works with young people from 12 years to early 20s. Both clubs are traditional in approach, offering young people a meeting place where they can socialise. The clubs also offer young people the opportunity to take part in a number of activities ranging from arts and crafts to sports and recreation.
The youth workers attached to clubs also organise excursions and residentials for the young people subsidised from the club's tuck shop.
These clubs also offer the youth workers the opportunity to engage young people on the more serious issues affecting their lives, including sexual health and alcohol and drug abuse.
For further information please contact Linda Cairncross or Nicola Addison at Westquarter Community School Project.
Reminiscence Group

The outcome of this group will be to produce and publish a book to commemorate Westquarter's 75th Birthday in 2010.

Future developments
There are plans to develop part of the school into a dedicated community wing with its own access.
When this development is complete it will offer the Community Project greater scope to provide services that meet the needs of the local community.
At present the scope for development is limited due to issues with members of the public entering the school during school hours. This issue will be resolved by a new community facility with its own access.
