The Hippodrome is an A-listed building designed by local architect Matthew Steele, and completed in 1911. It is a rare example of pre-art deco cinema architecture, currently undergoing restoration as part of the Bo'ness Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI).
The Hippodrome is scheduled to open in late 2008, recreating the golden age of cinema-going within one of one of Scotland's first purpose built picture houses, using 21st century technology.
Phase two of the restoration project is now underway, which includes internal fit out and installation of the equipment and seating that will support The Hippodrome's function as a cinema.
