Employer support guide

Is it difficult to find the right people?

Many employers agree that growing and sustaining a successful business depends on getting the right people, to do the right job, at the right time…

The big problem is how do you find them and how do you keep them once you’ve found them?

Research shows that Scottish employers are looking for people with a range of skills, particularly core skills such as communication, literacy and numeracy. Falkirk Council is committed to helping our local employers recruit, train and retain the right people to help their business become more competitive.

At the same time, the Employment & Training Unit is working to ensure that unemployed individuals, especially those who have been out of work longer-term, are given every assistance to re-enter the job market.

There is a wide range of support available to employers recruiting unemployed people but many find the volume of information confusing, and do not have time to investigate.

The following pages provide a simple guide to the programmes of support in Falkirk, offering a low cost, low risk to recruiting the right people.

The partnership of Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley, Careers Scotland, JobCentre Plus and Triage Central Limited is trying to achieve substantial reductions in levels of long-term unemployment, to improve people’s employability, and to raise skill levels across the working population of Falkirk.
