RED Book Award

RED Book Award

RED stands for Read, Enjoy, Debate and that's exactly what happened during the RED Book Award process last year when the five titles on the shortlist were read by young people across Falkirk Council. The titles were:

  • Looking for JJ by Anne Cassidy
  • The Star of Kazan by Eva Ibbotson
  • Airborn by Kenneth Oppel
  • Tamar by Mal Peet
  • Montmorency by Eleanor Updale.

Last year's winner, as voted by pupils from S2 to S4, was Looking for JJ, which was announced at the award ceremony in January 2007.

The plans for next year's book award are well underway. The short listed books to be considered for the RED Book Award 2008 have been chosen for the impact they have on the reader and which have that 'Wow' factor.
