What can I borrow from the library?

The library has a large selection of books, spoken word and large print material. Music CDs, DVDs, videos and CD-ROMS are also available for lending.

How long can I borrow items for?

Books and CDs can be borrowed for four weeks, DVDs for two nights. Childrens’ videos and DVDs may be borrowed for one week.

What happens if the items are returned late?

You will be asked to pay a charge for overdue items.
However, this can be avoided if you renew your books before they become overdue.

How do I renew items?

You can extend your existing loans at any library in person, by phone or via the internet|. You will be given a new return date. An item can be renewed up to eight times before it has to be returned to the library. However, any item wanted by another borrower cannot be renewed.

Charges

Most items are free. However, a charge is made for the hire of videos, DVDs and music CDs. Repeat charges will be applied on the renewal of any of these items. We also charge a small amount for requesting a book if we don’t have a copy in any of our libraries.

A full list of charges is on display in our libraries and can also be downloaded from this page.|

Can I request items?

If the material you want is not immediately available we may be able to order it |for you or borrow from another library service.
