Mobile library

Mobile libraries serve locations that are not close to a local library building.

When do the mobile libraries visit?

There are two mobile library vehicles and they run Monday to Friday during most weeks.

A mobile library visits each timetabled stop either weekly or fortnightly. Timetables are available at any library, on the mobile libraries, or you can download a PDF of the mobile library timetable here (PDF, 103KB).|

What stock do the mobile libraries carry?

Mobile libraries carry:

  • books, music CDs, spoken word tapes and CDs
  • books for children and adults, including picture books, popular fiction, non-fiction and large print books.
  • titles not in stock on the mobile library may be requested for free

Why not come on board at one of our many stops and see what we have to offer?

Do the mobile libraries have disabled access?

The mobile libraries have a lift that can accommodate wheelchair users or people who find steps difficult. Please ask for help if you wish to use it.

What happens if the mobile library service has to be cancelled?

Occasionally we have to take the mobile libraries off the road for repair or routine maintenance. We try to do this at times that cause minimum inconvenience to you.

If the service is cancelled because of breakdown or weather conditions, we will try and telephone a contact in the area to let you know the mobile library will not be calling. If we have your telephone number we will attempt to contact you.

If you have items that may become overdue, they can be renewed by telephoning or calling at any other library, by calling Library Support, or by renewing them online|.
