New mums activity class

An Exercise class specifically for mums with babies aged up to 1 year. It is recommended that mums shouldn’t join in ‘normal’ exercise class until at least a year after the birth of your baby. The class is a good chance for mums to meet and experience different forms of exercises classes all at an appropriate level for them. Different activities within the classes are aerobiking, gentle aerobics, basic weight, gym ball etc. Classes are held every Tuesday 11.15am – 12noon at Grangemouth Sports Complex. Classes are £0.75 per class or £5 per 8 week block. Turn up and have a go and with your new mums voucher you can try for 8 weeks for free!

Smooth Moves and Baby Massage Classes

Baby yoga is gentle exercises and movement of different parts of the body, getting them to become more aware of their bodies and their space and of different ways to move. It stimulates their nervous system. They are very simple exercises, movement without force. The parent will help the baby move their arm in and out, then cross their body and over their head and down, talking or singing to them as they go. They might tuck their legs under their groin in a lotus position, increasing their flexibility and movement of limbs and help them to release their stiffness. Baby Yoga is best suited for babies between 2 months and 1 year where they are able to respond to their surroundings.

Yoga helps babies to relax, to become aware of their bodies, ease away stiffness, and even get a better nights' sleep.  And parents like it too, growing in confidence in handling, playing and having fun with their babies. Some of the exercises in the hour-long classes involve gentle moving and stretching of the arms, legs, abdomen and spine. Another has the babies hanging momentarily upside down, held securely around their ankles; another has them whizzing through the air as if they’re flying. All the while, their parents are talking or singing nursery rhymes to them. These classes are very much about parent and child bonding together as well as parent enjoying a very relaxing form of exercise.

Buggy buddies

Gentle walks every fortnight held in Bo’ness. Walks last approximately one hour and are a good chance for mums with or without a buggy to meet up and go for a walk, as all mums will do at some point why not join a group and have a chat at the same time!
