Community Litterzone

Litter is not just a Council problem, and we cannot succeed in preventing litter on our own. Everyone has a responsibility in the campaign for a litter-free environment, and there are a number of local community groups working hard in partnership with the Council. Working with local communities, we aim to encourage local responsibility and ownership of the litter problem, providing a sustainable, long-term solution.

Many individuals and groups have already taken action against litter, with community clean ups a regular and growing occurrence throughout the Council area. Other community organisations have become involved in the litter strategy by organising schools competitions, delivering leaflets and displaying campaign posters. No matter how big or how small your project is, you can make a difference.

We are always happy to help and support community action against litter, and there are a number of resources and materials available. For more information see the Resources and information section|.

There are many community groups who have already taken the initiative themselves and organised very successful clean up campaigns. Why not follow their examples and take action in your area? Our Case studies| section gives details about a number of projects against litter throughout the Council area. Our team are here to provide all the support, encouragement and assistance you may need to start up your own projects against litter.

If you would like to get involved in our campaign, in any shape or form, or would simply like more information, please contact us.
