School lunches have been part of the school day for children for many years. Falkirk Council is continually developing this tradition to provide a modern day service that is responsive to our customers' needs.
By working in partnerships with Forth Valley Health Board, and the Scottish Executive in relation to the Hungry for Success Initiative, we aim to provide school meals that children enjoy by balancing the eating trends of today with their nutritional needs.
We provide the catering Service in 48 primary and four high schools. We continue to increase the number of children using the service as the first choice for their lunch. The pupils can choose from a selection of varied menus that have been developed in conjunction with the pupils.
The children have an opportunity to assist in shaping the service provision by:
-
attending focus groups
-
attending School Nutritional Action Groups (SNAGS)
-
using our complaint procedure
-
advising us through printed forms
-
advising catering staff
-
completing on-line surveys
