This is the place to find some ideas about how to take action on litter in lots of different ways. These ideas can be used at school or at home in your community.
If you are just starting to think about doing something about litter you might want to start off with a survey to find out where and what the problems are that need to be tackled.
A litter pick is fun to do and can make a real difference if you know of somewhere that has a litter problem.
Questionnaires and campaigns can be used to raise awareness if you need more support.
Remember it’s only a start – you can probably come up with even more ideas of your own.
Some examples of projects and activities can be seen below:
Trashdance
Falkirk Council's Litter Strategy and Active Schools teams joined forces to deliver a flashmob in the Howgate Shopping Centre.
A flashmob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse.
In this case we were doing it to spread our anti-litter message.
The dance was perfomed by pupils from 4 local high schools - Denny, Falkirk, Braes and Graeme High Schools.
Each of the participating schools had their own rehersal and were given a very short time in which to learn the dance.
Well done to everyone that took part and thanks for all your hard work.
Film in a Week
We made this film as part of a project run by the council called "Film in a Week".
The original idea for the film was Alastair's so I can't take any credit for it. The project was fun and there was always something going on.
Alastair and I hope you enjoy the film as we had a lot of fun making it and I would like to think it gets a message across.

Rubbish Radio Ad
In response to concerns raised by members of the community regarding litter issues in the vicinity of secondary schools, Falkirk Councils Litter Strategy Team decided to look at new and innovative ways to promote the central theme that there's no excuse for dropping litter.
As a result the team approached Central FM who suggested a competition involving the high schools in designing an anti litter jinglet.
Creating an anti-litter radio commercial designed by and aimed at young people was a great way to try something different and targeted an age group that is often overlooked. Each school could involve their pupils across many departments and gain recognition for helping to combat litter which is often perceived to be a schools issue. This was a unique opportunity and one which was well received.
Six high schools entered the competition and while the standard of all entries was very high we could only have one winner. Bo'ness Academy had their jingle professionally produced and aired on Central FM throughout November.
If you missed the jingles on Central FM you can listen to them all here by clicking on the school names below.
