Falkirk Council Green Cone promotional offer

Falkirk Council is making Green Cones available to allow you to dispose of your organic kitchen waste at home in a more environmentally friendly way.

A limited stock of Green Cone food waste digesters is available to Falkirk Council residents at the subsidised price of only £10.00 (RRP £79.50).

Your Green Cone will be delivered free of charge and comes complete with kitchen caddy, accelerator powder and shaker.

To order a Green Cone please call 01324 504444. Lines may be busy during peak times.

Residents should note that the Green Cone is partially installed below ground, which means that a hole must be dug to accomodate the unit. The digging of the hole could be a physically demanding activity, and you should bear this in mind before purchasing a Green Cone.

What is a Green Cone?

Green Cone  Green Cone

The Green Cone is a four-part injection moulded unit that takes all your household food waste and converts it into water, carbon dioxide and small amount residue.

Unlike an ordinary garden composter, which is only suitable for composting raw fruit/vegetable and garden waste, the Green Cone can be used to dispose of the following waste:

  • raw and cooked vegetable scraps
  • raw and cooked meat or fish
  • bones
  • dairy products
  • other organic kitchen waste e.g. tea bags, bread etc.

The Green Cone comes with a 4 litre kitchen caddy for collecting and carrying household food waste to the Green Cone.

How does the Green Cone work?

The Green cone comprises a lower basket installed below ground and an upper assembly consisting of a black inner cone and a green outer lidded plastic cone.

The patented design of the unit creates a solar heating effect between the inner and outer cones to promote air circulation, which facilitates the growth of beneficial micro-organisms and the desirable aerobic digestion process.

The household food waste is converted by bacteria into water, carbon dioxide and small amount residue that will only need to be removed every few years in a well operating Green Cone.
