Waste Aware Falkirk

Trade recycle bin
Following the successful implementation of the Blue Bin Recycling Service for many commercial premises earlier this year, we are pleased to announce that we are improving the service further by becoming a recycling led service. As a result, from 01 April 2010 new and existing customers will be able to take advantage of our recycling scheme which allows customers to recycle the same materials as can be recycled at home|.

Introducing recycling can provide your business with the following benefits.

  • Cost savings for your business by recycling more and reducing landfill disposal.
  • Materials including plastic, cardboard, paper and drinks/food cans can be recycled.
  • Choice of 4 bin sizes and loose label cardboard collection.
  • Option of weekly or fortnightly collections.
  • Encourages 'Waste Awareness' within your business.
  • Reduces the consumption of natural resources.
  • Reduces the amount of waste being sent to landfill.

With Landfill Tax rising to £48.00 per tonne from 01 April 2010 and by £8.00 per tonne annually thereafter, the more you are able to reduce landfill disposal, the more your business will save. Our recycling service helps you do this by providing recycling bins at a reduced cost compared to the standard landfill waste bins. By using the service your business will be making a positive contribution to Falkirk district's current recycling rate of 42%, and to meeting future targets in line with the Scottish Government's Zero Waste Plan.

For further information about our recycling service please contact our Trade Waste Helpline using the contact details below.

Falkirk Council's trade waste service includes the provision of wheeled containers or plastic sacks and labels. Only waste within a specified container or sack with a label will be uplifted.
