The Building Maintenance Division is a major employer in the area with over 350 employees and over 40 apprentices. We are committed to providing training opportunites and have an established apprenticeship scheme.
Our annual turnover is estimated at £25 million and is increasing year on year. Our workforce provides a range of skilled trade experience for building maintenance and repairs, including joiners, electricians, painters, plumbers, bricklayers, plasterers and slaters. We also carry out specialist work such as kitchen and bathroom installation, re-roofing, rewiring, gas maintenance, double glazing, roughcasting and the manufacture of doors and windows.
Over the past few years we have improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the service and we are wholly committed to continuous improvement.
The activities carried out by building maintenance include:

general repairs for all council properties

emergency response service for all council properties

projects and major housing investment contracts and community regeneration and neighbourhood enhancements which involve a multi-disciplined workforce

projects involving the alteration of buildings and facilities for use by people with special needs

the manufacture and installation of high quality double glazed doors and windows

contract which require specialist work to be carried out such as the maintenance of gas appliances

varied range of services for outdoor events including the supply of power, water, staging, lighting and a stand-by support team.
