1. How do I report a repair?
You can report a repair in several ways, either by telephone, by letter or in person. For further information see How to report a repair|.

2. How long will my repair take to complete?
Emergency repairs will be done within 24 hours. For more information see BMD repairs priorities.

3. I have an emergency repair, but your offices are closed. What do I do?
Falkirk Council operates an out of hours service. Please contact (01324) 503050 to be connected to our out of hours service. For more information go to our How to report a repair| page.

4. What can I do if I am unhappy with a repair or conduct of a Falkirk Council employee?
If you are unhappy with the work that has been carried out to your home, please contact the Housing and Social Work Section/ Neighbourhood office that allocated the repair. They will raise a complaint on your behalf and ensure it is actioned.

5. How can I recognise a council employee who has arrived at my home?
All Council employees are issued with name badges and or identification badges.
ALWAYS ASK FOR IDENTIFICATION, IF YOU ARE UNSURE PLEASE DO NOT LET ANYONE INTO YOUR HOME!

6. What happens if I am not home when a workman calls?
If you are not home and our tradesmen call, a No Access Card, asking you to contact us prior to the target date of the job, will be left. If you do not contact us we may cancel your repair. It may then be necessary for you to re-report your repair.

7. What repairs am I responsible for in my home?
You are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the structure of the property and any fittings supplied. This has been set out in the Housing Repairs booklet that you were supplied with on moving into your home. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Housing Repairs Book, staff in the various Neighbourhood offices on reporting the repair will ask you a number of questions to ascertain if it is a repair that you can carry out.

8. What depot deals with my repairs?
The depot that deals with the repair is predominantly down to which catchment area your home is in. A full list of depot catchment areas can be seen at the BMD Enquiries page|.

9. Can the tradesmen make alterations or improvements to my home during a job?
BMD employees can only make alterations and improvements to your home with written approval from the Neighbourhood Office.
