We aim to make sure that you live in good quality housing which is why our Housing Investment Programme makes up £17.55m of the overall Housing Services budget.
So far this year (2009/10) we have committed a large proportion of this money, and further contracts will be awarded during the remainder of the year to enable us to fully spend this budget.
The main areas of investment are:
-
£2.0m in replacement kitchens and bathrooms
-
£4.7m for external repairs and improvements to properties (e.g. re-roofing and re-roughcasting)
-
£1.5m for electrical work
-
£0.7m on estate improvements (e.g. upgrading back courts, installing controlled door entry systems)
-
£1.8m for replacing or upgrading central heating systems to ensure homes are warm and comfortable
-
£0.2m to improve insulation standards to help reduce heating costs
-
£2.5m to continue upgrading structural works to high rise blocks
-
£2.2m on new build housing
-
£0.2m on wider estate environmental improvements.
We will continue to make further improvements to our housing stock to make sure that it meets the Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015, a requirement introduced by the Scottish Executive in 2005.
