Falkirk's Homeless Strategy, currently being taken forward by the Council and its partners, sets out the approach to tackling homelessness in the Falkirk Council are until 2013 and provides a clear direction for improving and developing services.
It details how Falkirk Council, together with our partners, will make sure that homelessness services develop in line with the needs and aspirations of local people.
The Homelessness Strategy for the period 2008–2013 sets out what the Council, and its partners, need to do to meet the Scottish Government's target that by 2012 everyone in Scotland who is not intentionally homeless will have a right to permanent accommodation.
It also illustrates how the Council and its partners will meet the challenges of the five national homelessness outcomes set by the Homelessness Task Force.
These are that:
-
no-one need sleep rough
-
existing homelessness becomes more visible
-
sustainable resettlement is secured for people who become homeless
-
fewer people become homeless in the first place
-
the duration of homelessness is reduced
The Falkirk Homelessness Strategy strives to achieve its Local Vision that,
'By 2012, no one need be homeless in the Falkirk Council area.'
Beneath this vision are 3 key aims.
Prevention: We will prevent homelessness by raising awareness of the help that is available in the area and by developing new services to meet local needs.
Accommodation: We will make the best use of the available accommodation by assisting people to explore the full range of housing options available in the area.
Support: We will help vulnerable people to access the support they need so that they do not become homeless again.
The Homelessness Strategy 2008 - 2013 is the result of work done in 2006 and 2007 by the Falkirk Homelessness Forum Executive Group and its sub groups. More information about the Falkirk Homelessness Forum can be found here.|
