As a Falkirk Council tenant you have the right to improve your home. However, you must ask your local neighbourhood office for permission to carry out home improvements.
You will need written permission before you carry out any major works to your home, such as replacing or altering windows, doors or kitchen fittings, any work involving plumbing or mains electrics, redecorating the outside of your home or fitting an aerial or satellite dish.
It is worth remembering that you may be able to claim compensation for certain major improvements that you have paid for, but this compensation can only be claimed when your tenancy ends and if you have applied for permission to carry out the improvements before the work was carried out.
