If you and another person are already joint tenants, it may be that you both agree that only one of you should be the tenant. For example, this may happen when a relationship comes to an end and one partner agrees to move out of the family home. In this case, you should inform your local housing office that you want to make this change. Alternatively, you can apply for a change of tenancy by clicking on the link below. Both joint tenants will need to confirm in writing that they agree to the change.
You can also apply for a change of tenancy for other reasons where you consider that this would be of benefit to you and other members of your household.
In assessing your application the following points will be considered:

The property must be your only or principal home.

The proposed new tenant must be over 16 years of age.

The proposed tenant must qualify for the property under the Housing Allocations Policy.

Your application must be approved by the Neighbourhood Manager before it can go ahead and you will have to sign the appropriate paperwork.
If your application is approved, the local housing office will tell you the date that your change of tenancy will start from. If your application is unsuccessful, we will tell you in writing the reason why it has been refused.
