Housing options for ex-service personnel and those leaving the armed forces

Whether you are due to leave the armed forces in a year, a couple of months or have already left and thinking of moving to the Falkirk Council area there is support available to help you.

It is a good idea to start thinking about where you will set up home as soon as you can as deciding where to live is one of the most important choices you and your family need to make.

When thinking about your housing options you will need to decide where you want to live, your needs and your situation. These options could include renting a property privately or through a council, housing association (sometimes known as a registered social landlord) or an ex-service charity, or buying a property. More information on your options can be found in the Falkirk Housing Options Guide|

If you think that a home from Falkirk Council would be the best option for you, you will need to register with the Falkirk Council Homespot| to allow you to bid for any properties that are advertised. The Council lets houses through a choice based letting system called Homespot. This lets you decide which houses you wish to be considered for. If you want to be housed quickly, you should bid for all properties that meet your housing need. We will advertise our vacant properties every two weeks. Those leaving the Armed forces are classed as a category 1 applicant within the Homespot allocations policy.
For more information on registering for Homespot or bidding for a property visit the Homespot web page or contact you're nearest Housing Office

Further information on housing options for those leaving the Armed Forces can be found on the Scottish Government Website |
