The Scottish Government is committed to supporting home ownership through its Low-cost Initiative for First Time Buyers (LIFT|).

The LIFT initiative brings together several ways to help households access home ownership, see below:

• The New Supply Shared Equity Scheme (NSSE) - allows first time buyers to buy a new build property either from a housing association or a private developer;
• The New Supply Shared Equity with Developers Scheme - allows first time buyers to buy a new build property from a developer;
• The Open Market Shared Equity Scheme (OMSE) - allows first time buyers to buy a property on the open market;
• Shared Ownership - where households buy part ownership of a property

Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) (PDF, 38MB)| The core purpose of the Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) is to set out how investment in affordable housing will be directed over a five year period to achieve Local Housing Strategy (LHS) outcomes.
