Equal opportunities

Falkirk Council aims to be an equal opportunities employer by creating a working environment where all forms of discrimination are unacceptable. The Council is committed to providing equality of opportunity to all employees and to service users.

We will not show preference or discrimination on the grounds of gender, race, colour, ethnic origin, nationality, national origin, disability, marital status, sexuality, responsibility for dependants, age, class, HIV status, religious or political beliefs, trade union activity or unrelated criminal conviction.

Equal Opportunities Policy

The Council has adopted an Equal Opportunities Policy that reflects our commitment to equality in line with our goals and values. This policy ensures equality of access to employment and service provision.

The aims of the policy

  • Adoption of anti-discriminatory practices at all stages of service delivery and the employment of individuals through recruitment and selection.
  • Meeting legislative responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010.
  • Promoting the value of diversity within our workforce and the community by working towards a workforce profile that reflects the profile of the local community.
  • Use proactive means to redress inequalities created by historical discrimination against disadvantaged groups in the fields of employment and service delivery/provision.
