Falkirk Council and Central Scotland Police in partnership with other local agencies are working together to create safer and more attractive communities to live and work in, by reducing antisocial behaviour.
What is antisocial behaviour?
Everyone has a different idea about what antisocial behaviour means. The Antisocial Behaviour etc. (Scotland) Act 2004 has defined antisocial behaviour as:
'acting in a manner, or pursuing a course of conduct, that causes or is likely to cause alarm or distress
to at least one person not of the same household'
We know that differences in age, beliefs, health considerations and background, may give rise to different expectations and perceptions of what is acceptable conduct and what may or may not be considered to be antisocial behaviour.
Tolerance and awareness of other peoples needs is an important factor in addressing antisocial behaviour.
These are examples of what might be considered as antisocial behaviour:
-
abandoned vehicles
-
alcohol- and drug-related antisocial behaviour
-
dog fouling
-
graffiti
-
harassment, including racial harassment
-
litter
-
noise nuisance
-
rowdy behaviour / disorder
-
