Social Work Services Children's Support Workers

This project will provide two additional workers to work with families where parental substance misuse is having a detrimental effect on children in the Falkirk Council area.

The Aberlour Outreach project currently works with families across the Falkirk Council area where parental substance misuse is a major issue which affects positive outcomes for the children. The project provides intensive services to around 50 families annually with 80% of these families coming from areas within the worst 15% SIMD. Due to an increase in referrals for the service there is now a waiting list. The additional workers would ensure that families within the identified data zones would not have to wait to receive a service.

The Service provides individual and integrated packages off support following referral and assessment to:

  • Families where parental substance use places children at risk of neglect and/or harm
  • Pregnant women
  • Parents with newborn babies.
