This project involves providing additional high visibility police patrols within the areas identified as being of the 15% most deprived datazones in Scotland.
These areas historically suffer from elevated levels of crime which leads to lack of community cohesion, low community confidence and a greater propensity for outward migration of those financially capable.
It is intended that this activity would build community confidence and sense of well being, thus encouraging investment and population retention and reversing the decline experienced in many of these areas.
However, the key outcomes would be reduced crime rates, particularly in relation to violent crime, crimes of disorder and dishonesty. By these means it is intended that satisfaction in the community is raised and the fear of crime, both at night and during the day, is generally reduced.
