Falkirk Council Employment & Training Unit Positive Transitions

If you live in one of the priority areas and want to find out what this project is doing specifically in your area, please contact Pamela Smith|.

This is a joint initiative with Education Services, assisting young people to make better transitions from high school though developing effective pre school leaving activities. The project provides an alternative curriculum for pupils in their final year of education to provide a customised route to the world of work. Three models for delivery have been developed.

Model 1 – Full time shared provision running for the whole period of S4 for summer leavers, 2 days in school and 3 days out of school

Model 2 – The full time of site provision running for the two terms prior to December for Christmas leavers 5 days out of school

Model 3 – The pre employment intervention delivered in the final term before the summer and Christmas leaving dates, 5 days out of school

The project is open to all 8 high schools and at least 40% of universal provision will be targeted at pupils residing in areas within worst 15% SIMD with enhanced support packages to take account of the multiple barriers to positive progression that may exist.
