A scaled down version of this project was delivered successfully through the Community regeneration Fund. This project aims to deliver a range of sporting activities within all 9 of the targeted areas (within worst 15%) on a weekly basis. Resources should also allow for certain areas to have sessions twice a week.
This project will continue developing and delivering a sports activity outreach programme which aims to create an alternative route for young people to become involved in sport outwith normal school or sports club setting.
The project provides a positive diversion from areas where communities have identified issues of youth antisocial behaviour, underage drinking etc.
The project will also engage with young people to direct the types of activities which are delivered. A particular focus will be given to encourage the participation of teenage girls who traditionally have a lower participation rate in sport at this age.
