Scottish Government have issued a new booklet for parents & carers about talking to young people about alcohol.
The aim is that the booklet will inform and support parents in talking to young people about alcohol and also trigger them to reflect on their own consumption.
In developing the booklet Scottish Government engaged with NHS Health Scotland, the then Scottish Association of Alcohol & Drug Action Teams, Alcohol Focus Scotland, CoSLA, ACPOS and a range of children's and parenting charities. The views of parents were also sought in a number of focus groups before development. The final booklet was also tested with parents and was received well. The booklet can be downloaded at - http://www.drinksmarter.org/media/14397/parents-guide.pdf|
The Scottish Government, the alcohol industry, health professionals and the voluntary sector are working together to provide useful information to consumers and promote a joined up message about responsible consumption of alcohol.
